First unveiled in pure titanium in 2015 and introduced last year in a carbon composite version for Olympic medalists Wayde van Niekerk and Mutaz Essa Barshim, the RM 67-02 is Richard Mille’s lightest automatic watch to date, weighing just 32 grams (including strap) – the equivalent of just seven sheets of A4 printer paper.

The brand has now designed four different versions of the watch for four more ambassadors, including 21-year-old German tennis star Alexander Zverev, French alpine ski racing superstar Alexis Pinturault, five-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier and two-time Formula 1 World Champion and McLaren F1 driver Fernando Alonso. Although the four watches are coloured differently, they all feature the colours of their respective athletes’ flags and all have the same case, made from a carbon composite material produced by North Thin Ply Technologies (NTPT). Extremely light and strong, the case features a unique wood-grain surface, a result of the carbon fibre layers inside.

For example, the RM 67-02 Alexander Zverev features a Carbon TPT front and back plate, a red Quartz TPT caseband and a yellow crown protector, while the hand-painted Grade 5 titanium dial features the same tricolour pattern as the German flag. Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono

They are powered by the same CRMA7 movement, Richard Mille’s seventh in-house movement. Its bridges and baseplate are made from titanium and are skeletonised over large areas to further reduce the weight of the movement. The oscillating weight is made from skeletonised carbon composite and has a white gold wheel screwed into its outer ring as a winding mechanism.

Each watch is fitted with a seamless elastic strap: the Richard Mille “Comfort” strap. This strap is made using a special weaving process that fits the wrist like a second skin while ensuring good breathability and security.
